we are HOME!

Yay! Addalie's surgery went well. It was a bit longer than the doctor expected it to be, (9am-1pm) but after 4 hrs. he felt good about everything. It was so hard & stressful for Scott & I to sit there & wait that whole time. I had books & magazines but couldn't concentrate to read. After a couple of visits to the cafeteria (bfast & lunch), & after meeting a few other families who had children in surgery, it was finally time to go & see Addalie in recovery. She was really out of it & on lots of meds...but it was wonderful to see her & to know that things had gone well. Around 4pm, she finally got a room. She wasn't very happy...She cried a lot & was really unsure of where she was & why.

But she got a pretty good night of sleep & the next morning she was doing a little better. By late afternoon she really started to act like herself & most of her moniters/IV's were out! The doctors said that babies heal much faster than adults do & we saw evidence of that! So we took her on a walk to the play room. (She thought she was so cool in her wagon)

& her favorite part of the play room was watching the other kids.

Addalie in her crib (cage) there were bars on top too.

Addalie's AMAZING surgeon.

Going home! The nurse said that she has never seen a patient of this type of surgery recover so quickly.

By the time that we got home she was sound asleep. She had a busy couple of days!

Thanks so much for your prayers, calls, & cards. Addalie did really well. We saw God's provision & kindness over & over. There is still lots of healing & recovery to take place. She has a large incision & lots of bandages. The Dr. put a stent in her at the surgical sight & the tubing from that drains into a bag to decrease infection etc. She still has the "bag" attached so it can be tricky to carry her & hold her etc. But overall, things are going well.
