A Happy Father's Day

Very rarely do I get to spend Father's Day with my dad because he lives in Kansas. But he & Bev decided to visit & their time here fell right over Father's Day weekend. They made the L*O*N*G drive & got here last Saturday. Just in time to go down to visit Scott at market. =)

Then on Sunday evening we had a Father's Day dinner here!

On Monday we spent the afternoon at the park & then ate at 5 Guys!
Addalie LOVED having non-stop playmates--they didn't stop-even when she was wearing them out!

On Tuesday we got to go to the local Produce Auction with Scott's brother Doug. My dad grows lots of produce so this was right up his alley.

Before they drove back to Kansas on Wed. morning, we went to Dienners for a good Lancaster County Breakfast.
Thanks so much for driving the many hours to PA! We had so much fun & loved spending Father's Day with you this year.

The Hershey Spa

Scott decided that he wanted to send all of the girls that work for him to The Spa at Hotel Hershey! Of course I didn't mind "taking them"!! =)) We had SUCH a fun day. There were 9 of us total. We all got to pick a service. (pedicure, manicure, facial or massage)

In the "quiet room". Bry & Juanita had trouble with the "quiet part"! =) (may that is why they aren't in this picture?)

*pedicures*

Yummy buffet lunch in our robes!
We spent the afternoon in the hot tub
& in the pool.
A "Frosty Stop" on the way home.

Fun Fun! Thanks Scott for the wonderful day! & thanks girls for all that you do for us. We love you!!!

washing the van

(notice the soap in hair)
Soon after these pictures were taken, Addalie had the hose pointed straight at her face (about 6 inches away) & started spraying....she started crying & of course didn't realize that she need to let go of the hose in order to stop getting soaked! It was pretty funny...poor girl. =)

Death is not Dying

A few weeks ago I downloaded a talk by Rachel Barkey onto my ipod & listened to it when we drove to the beach. Rachel (a wife & mother of 2 children) has cancer & does not have much more time to live. Despite her reality, she is holding her head up high & is an example to so many. She loves the Lord more than ever. Scott & I were both so challenged by her perspectives. I really encourage you to listen to this. It is 54 min. long...but I trust that the Lord will use her words to speak to your soul.

DuPont

Today we had Addalie's 1 yr. check-up down at DuPont Children's Hospital. I always get a big lump in my throat when we are there & I am often on the verge of tears. There are all kinds of children there for all kinds of reasons. Some of the "reasons" are very obvious & others hidden quite well. Despite the sadness of the terminal illnesses & problems that these kids have, Scott & I always come away encouraged! So many of the parents that we see & bump into have HUGE amounts of patience & ALL of the DuPont staff whether it is the receptionists, nurses, ultra-sound techs, or doctors, go far above & beyond the "call of duty".

Addalie's kidney is looking good. Her doctor said that it isn't a "normal" kidney--it never will be, but it looks a whole lot better than it did prior to surgery. He is confident that the surgery successfully removed the blockage that was there. He wants to see us again in a year to monitor things, but at this point he is happy with the improvements that are there.

Outside at the hospital they have a huge play area. Addalie had a blast climbing all over it. & making friends with everyone that she could. Then on the way home we stopped at what has come to be our favorite little cafe (close to the hospital) & had a really yummy lunch.

We are thankful for God's faithfullness to us & little Ads in this situation. Last June had lots of difficult moments but He has cared for us & strengthened our faith.
