Today we had Addalie's 1 yr. check-up down at DuPont Children's Hospital. I always get a big lump in my throat when we are there & I am often on the verge of tears. There are all kinds of children there for all kinds of reasons. Some of the "reasons" are very obvious & others hidden quite well. Despite the sadness of the terminal illnesses & problems that these kids have, Scott & I always come away encouraged! So many of the parents that we see & bump into have HUGE amounts of patience & ALL of the DuPont staff whether it is the receptionists, nurses, ultra-sound techs, or doctors, go far above & beyond the "call of duty".
Addalie's kidney is looking good. Her doctor said that it isn't a "normal" kidney--it never will be, but it looks a whole lot better than it did prior to surgery. He is confident that the surgery successfully removed the blockage that was there. He wants to see us again in a year to monitor things, but at this point he is happy with the improvements that are there.
Outside at the hospital they have a huge play area. Addalie had a blast climbing all over it. & making friends with everyone that she could. Then on the way home we stopped at what has come to be our favorite little cafe (close to the hospital) & had a really yummy lunch.
We are thankful for God's faithfullness to us & little Ads in this situation. Last June had lots of difficult moments but He has cared for us & strengthened our faith.

it is a wonderful blessing to have a happy and healthy child. i am glad ads is doing so well. i was thinking the other day, how it had almost been a year since her surgery. having a child in the hospital gives you a new perspective on thankfulness. i am glad all is good. we will continue to pray for continued health. i am anxious for ads to meet her 2nd cousin once removed (is that what they will be?)
Yay. Yay. Yay.
Oh, we are so happy everything is looking so good for precious Addalie, and you guys! Glad you had a happy day. Sorry we weren't here for you to stop in. :( Love you all. mis.
isn't good sometimes to have "anniveraries" of sorts to remind us of God's faithfulness?
